The University of West Florida and WSRE, the television station affiliated with Pensacola State College joined to produce a one-man show detailing thesignificant role of Bernardo de Galvez in the American Revolution and the siege of Pensacola.  Starring Chaz Mena, with commentary by David Hartman this 56 minute video  “Yo Solo” can be seen at:

Friday, May 8

 

9 a.m.

Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) march from Fort George at the corner of Palafox St and La Rua St. to the Bernado de Galvez monument at the intersection of Palafox and Wright Streets.

 

9:45 a.m.

A program of local and Spanish dignitaries speaking about the role and importance of Galvez in the American Revolution. Included will be a 21 gun salute and wreath laying. Following will be a presentation of Spanish songs and dances by student of Episcopal Day School.

 

11 a.m.

Te Deum  at Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel 21 N. Palafox St. (one block south of the Galvez monument).

 

3 p.m. Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) presentation and wreath laying ceremony for fallen veterans. Veteran’s Park 200 S. 10th Ave.  (south side of Romana St. Between 9th and 10th Ave.)

  • Narrated and Riding Tour for those just learning about the Battle of Pensacola
