ReDiscovery Lecture Series
To really love one's town you must first know the history and the ReDiscovery Lecture Series is a fantastic way to learn about the history of our fair city through the stories of Pensacola Historian, John Appleyard who gives most of the ReDiscovery lectures.

- January 12 - “Spanish Kings who Related to Penacola
- 1559-1821”
Biographical sketches of who they were and how they related to Florida.
- January 26 - “The Panton-Leslie Trading Post”
Its functions to 1825 as the trading center with native Americans. Carried on as Forbes & Company, and the final roles in the War of 1812.
- February 9 - “Captain Willis Green Barrow and the Steamship
Tarpon”
Its role in Gulf commerce...and how people from Mobile to Carabelle carried on for 34 years. Also involved are the Tarpon's miraculous escapes in great storms and adventures.
- February 23 - “Pensacola's City Government Under SIX
Charters”
Specifics of change, who the key figures were, what was accomplished...and why changes were made.
- March 8 - “Andrew Jackson's Three Visists to Pensacola”
How each one changed local and American history. Involved also would be Rachel Jackson's influences.
- March 22 - “Stephen R. Mallory”
One of the community's historical icons...the contributions he made, and how he came to be as involved as he was.
- April 5 - "Woods and Timberland"
- How over time they made and remade Pensacola's economy. Inserted vignettes on the major industries and people involved...and the ownership of lands throughout the county today.
- April 19 - "Terrible Fires"
- How they changed appearances, life and the economy of the Pensacola area.
